The city of Huntsville (estimated metropolitan population is 280,000) is best known for the cluster of high-tech industries built around NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal, and the 2,000-acre Milton K. Cummings Research Park -- one of the nation's pre-eminent research parks. There are many things to see in Huntsville, including the world-famous U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Three major federal laboratories are located in close proximity to the campus. UAH ranks sixth in the United States in NASA-funded research. | About Computer Science Department |
The Computer Science Department is located in the Technology Hall and has excellent classroom, laboratory, and student facilities. Ready access is provided to several modern, networked PC and Sun laboratories within the department. The campus fiber backbone supports easy Internet and world wide web access. Additional PC laboratories are also distributed across the campus. The department has microcomputer and network laboratories for instruction in logic design, computer architecture, and networking. |

All the computer science programs meet national standards for excellence and since 1989 have been fully accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission. The department offers B.S, M.S and PhD degrees with a major in computer science, and the M.S.S.E degree in software engineering. In addition, the department offers other graduate certificate programs which can be earned in conjunction with the M.S. degree, or independently of any degree. |
